Well it seems like I've been waiting for this moment for a long time.. :-). The 2nd Edition of the book "Realistic Architectural Visualization with 3ds Max and mental ray" is now available.
The book was co-authored by myself and Jamie Cardoso. It features sections on the basics of mental ray, and project based sections where you develop materials and lighting for real scenes. These scenes include; an interior of a living room, a photomontage of an exterior of a building, an interior atrium, and a harbor.
You can order the book in the US on online sites like Amazon.
Here are a few more images from the book, which are based on the projects you work through in the chapters.

I have several student using your book. They are all running 3ds Max 2010. Several of the students as well as myself are getting this error.
mental ray error "the render was cancelled due to insufficient memory. adjust the scene or render setting to reduce memory usage and try again.
Other students are rendering without any issues. They have had success running 2010, Vista 32 and 64bit. I am lost. Any ideas?
Glen,
which scenes are you having problems with.
Please send me a message to cusson.r@gmail.com, with the specs of your computer and if you are using 3ds max 2010 32 bit..
If you can give me specs on one of the student machines as well.
mental ray will run out of memory with heavy scenes, often due to final gather map issues and the complexity of the scene. (geometry and maps)
I'll wait for your e-mail
cheers
